I was just thinking today how I haven’t enjoyed late night Thursdays on the high streets in ages, in fact I haven’t had much satisfaction when it comes to shopping at all these days, but I think this is going to change that.
Vogue seems to share my general frustration with London’s shopping atmosphere at the moment and has come up with a plan: ‘Vogue’s Fashion Night Out’
More than 200 shops in the West End are coming together to take part in this shopping extravaganza, there will be participation from first line designers and high street stores. All putting the joy back into shopping with some delightful extras. Including a limited edition T-Shirt, designed especially to celebrate the shopping! (I love this celebration!) The T- shirt is £10 and all proceeds go to the Uk charity for the homeless: Crisis.
Alexandra Shulman (Editor of Vogue) has released this statement in regards to the occasion: “In these difficult economic times, we want to reward the spirit of enterprise and imagination that the fashion industry encapsulates. We’re delighted to be in a position at Vogue to undertake this enterprise and bring retailers and shoppers together in central London for this feel-good occasion.”
Browns is the official partner for the event and will be doing something a little different by bringing its designers into the store for a special experience. It is by appointment only and to make yours email: email@example.com. Just imagine Hussein Chalayan on windows, while Roksanda Ilincic, Jonathan Saunders and Antonio Berardi doing personal styling. Marios Schwab on the till and Henry Holland as store manager. Surely a shopping experience worth blogging about!
Other stores have their own fiascoes going on including:
Marks & Spencer
Little Boots will be DJing at M&S Marble Arch with four catwalk shows during the evening. In between the shows there will be workshops for customers on styling, how to wear the new autumn trends and lingerie master classes.
Be the first to see its new floor, 3rd Central, with concepts from Alexander Wang, Helmut Lang and Whistles with the world’s longest denim wall. A new boutique on lower-ground, The Icecreamists, will offer an array of “vice-creams” and guilty pleasures – frozen yogurts, sorbets and Vogue cocktails. Lara Bohinc will be on accessories giving away a free coin purse worth £108 with purchases of her jewellery. Plus live music and DJs. Open until 10pm.
VV Brown is performing at 8pm at the Kingly Street “gap1969 denim” pop-up store. Buy your fave denim for £19.69 and enjoy beer and burgers.
Its “Fashionable Late” evening at 14 Argyll Street includes live music, cocktails and free beauty treatments.
Customers at 55 South Molten Street will be offered mini hand treatments courtesy of Dermalogica and a prize draw to win a £250 gift card.
Its Style Studio at the Argyll Street store gives people the chance to take part in their own fashion shoot with proceeds from sales going to the Crisis charity.
Ok I’m off to email my attendance to Browns, either way I might bump into some of you in The West End! I can’t wait!!
