5?5 Girl In A 5?10 World

Meet Reem. Model ,turned fashion blogger, turned clothing designer. This gal is pretty well rounded if you ask me, and is always in the know of what trend is soon to peak in the fashion world today. I am a daily reader on Reem’s blog, so I think it’s my responsibility to spread the word and influence all the WTHellz readers to lurk Reem’s blog, like me! *smiles*

-Who are you,and what is it that you do

I’m Reem, After briefly experiencing the struggles of modeling at just 5?5, I created 5?5 Girl in a 5?10 World. A website dedicated to all things fashion. With plans to tackle thelimited boundaries of the modeling industry in the future. I am also co-founder of House of Rena a clothing label created by myself and sister/partner, Natalya.

-What sparked the idea to get involved into the blogging game?

It started when I wanted to journalise my efforts as a ’short’ model trying to make it in the industry. It then evolved from being all about ‘Reem’ to actually creating and developing ideas for fashion segments. My thing is creativity and this was my blank canvas!

-Is there anything that you want your readers to get out of the blog?

Inspiration and creativity, a good read, a website worth bookmarking and something they can watch develop and grow. I want them to know I started it from nothing, if you want people to see your vision you just have to create it.

-Who, in the fashion world, do you feel is making a huge impression in the industry today?

I think Kate Moss is always having some sort of impression on the industry, whether it’s positive or otherwise!, I love her transition into a designer for Topshop. However more recently I would hope that Tyra Banks is making an impression with the latest cycle of ANTM dedicated to ’shorter’ models.

-Do you have a current obsession?

I’m obsessing over sushi! It’s the perfect food for girls on the go!

-Can you tell me what you’re personal style is like?

I like to try different things, but it always ends up being jeans/leggings and a T shirt! I always plan out some eccentric outfit that I convince myself I will pull off but alwaysopt for the casual and comfy look instead.

-What topic do you feel is lacking in the blogging world today, or that you feel needs much more coverage?

I’m currently getting myself more involved in fair trade and ethical movements. Unfortunately on a wide scale, there is a blind eye turned towards more global issues, even if they do influence the way we produce and sell fashion. So I would like to see a larger media coverage on those topics. Blogs have such an influence, and are developing as the ‘whats what’ of fashion news, so for blogs to take on these issues would be great. I’m actually in the process of creating specific articles related to these topics for 5?5 Girl in a 5?10 World.

-What inspires you?

I get inspired by big cities, especially london, I love the struggle, the days when I was a fashion student and so broke, and all the tiny crappy studio apartments that I’ve lived in, they’ve all contributed to everything that I have done so far. The feedback that I get in regard to the site and label is also very inspiring!

-Tell me what the first 3 things you see in front of you or that are present on your desk
