BANISH DRY AND DAMAGED LOCKS FOREVER WITH SUNSILK’S DAMAGE RECONSTRUCTION PROGRAMCO-CREATED WITH TOP LONDON STYLIST TOM TAW.
“Everyone wants hair that’s healthy; that moves and bounces – whether you’re a world-famous actress, catwalk model or an every day girl in London, Paris or New York,” says cutting-edge London hair stylist Tom Taw, one of seven pioneering global hair experts chosen by Sunsilk to co-create new products for all hair types.
Tom can spot damaged hair a mile away and has developed a special test to check the levels of damage, involving ‘floating’ hair in water. Healthy hair floats, while damaged hair will sink. For Tom, complete repair comes from deep penetration into each layer of the hair follicles, filling in the cracks created by damage over time. Without this approach, all you achieve is a veneer over the damage, without actually repairing anything.
The powerful new product Tom and Sunsilk have co-created reinforces hair structure and brings back extreme smoothness by penetrating deeper and filling damaged cracks. The Sunsilk overnight treatment contains Olive Serum Nutri Complex which seals in moisture, layer by layer and strand by strand.
Known for his discretion, Tom is a firm favourite amongst London’s influential actors, pop stars, fashion designers, models and influential musicians who treat him like a confidante, trusting no other hairdresser to repair their damaged locks. Whether he’s backstage at fashion shows, styling for Elle and Vogue, hosting educational seminars for hairdressers, or running his achingly cool hairdressing salon – BobSoho – in London’s hippest district, Tom’s your man when it comes to reconstructing damaged hair.
Tom says: “Moisture gives hair movement; protein gives it strength – and we’ve got the perfect balance in the Damage Reconstruction Program I’ve co-created with Sunsilk.”
*First, check if you have any damage by pulling out a single strand of hair and submerging it into a glass of water. If it floats, your hair is healthy; if it sinks, you are in need of some repair – seek advice
*When drying your hair, gently squeeze out excess water with a towel – don’t rub hair vigorously – and be extra careful when combing it out as hair is weakest when it is wet
*Use a treatment for dry/damaged hair once a week. Try my Damage Reconstruction Program to restore damaged hair
*Eat a balanced diet including multivitamins and proteins to encourage hair growth. Take time when brushing your hair and be careful when using hair accessories (avoid rubber bands and headbands – these can exacerbate damage)
*Drink at least two litres of water a day to re-hydrate your body including your hair
*If you have coloured hair try using products from Sunsilk’s Vibrant Colour Protection
*If you want an alternative treatment, apply a small amount of olive oil onto your hair and let it soak in for an hour. Wash and dry your hair as normal.
