I was so excited to receive an email from the PR department of one my all time favourite museums, the V&A, announcing that they have a wonderful collaboration with one of Spring/summer’s biggest names, Erdem. The comission of the Diaghilev and the Golden Age of the Ballets Russes, 1909–1929 exhibition, includes a beautifully created silk scarf by one of fashion’s most exciting rising stars.
The scarf, measuring almost 1 meter boasts a flourish of rippling movement and colour, incorporating original costume designs by Léon Bakst for the ballet Narcisse in 1911.
‘It’s wonderful to work with Bakst’s illustrations; I thought they were such a wonderfully inspiring starting point for the scarf. The Ballets Russes are so inspiring and colourful…’ Erdem Moralioglu.
Bakst’s sensational costumes, with their bold, beautiful designs, are complemented perfectly by Erdem’s love of vibrant colour and his mastery of print.
The Narcisse Scarf is available exclusively from the V&A Shop from September 2010 and is £182.
