This week I was invited to attend and listen to a talk led by Johnny Blue Eyes at the American Intercontinental University in London. Johnny Blue Eyes is a London-based international stylist who told Beth Ditto to wear lycra and be proud of her size, got Kate Moss back on the catwalk after more than four years away and judged Britain’s Next Top Model.
It was a wonderful talk filled with warmth, enthusiasm and integrity. “I wanted the AIU London students to come away from the talk feeling free to express their individuality and I was quite overwhelmed with some of their responses!” – Johhny Blue Eyes.
“Johnny is not your average stylist, yet he has made his mark in the fashion industry with his very unique personality, and his experience in styling. He represents a part of the industry that it is important for our students to understand.”- Gill Stark, AIU London dean of fashion.
Johnny Blue Eyes is one of the most sincere people I have come across in the fashion industry thus far, he believes in equality and not in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ mentality, where you feel you are better than others depending upon where you are on the fashion hierarchy. I completely agree with him and I had a blast being at the University and getting a chance to hear this iconic stylist speak about his career and listen to his opinion on the styling profession.
American InterContinental University offers a wide range of Associate, Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in Fashion, Interior Design, International Business and Visual Communications. AIU offers a blend of online and on campus learning. The Fashion Department also teaches optional modules in Paris. For more information about AIU London please visit www.aiulondon.ac.uk
