Over a decade after launching her first bridal collection and becoming an international name in the industry, Reem Acra returned to Lebanon on Wednesday night for the opening of her first boutique in Downtown, Beirut. I could see the bright lights and red carpet and curtains even before I stepped out of the car! The two storey boutique was gleaming, with guests dripping with designer labels from head to toe to say the least.
I wasted no time and immediately perused Acra’s stunning gowns and accessories which were undoubtedly fabulous. I especially loved the shades of purple as well as the sequin and feather detailing on some pieces. I then headed outside to watch a dance number whilst nibbling on tiny trays of smoked salmon and watermelon with feta, (we love anything cute and miniature at FFF!). It was great to see the waiters dressed in traditional Lebanese attire complete with the red hat as they handed out drinks and cocktails, as the DJ kept us entertained with sounds of Michael Jackson and Aretha Franklin.
The lady herself wore a gold and silver sequinned dress as she posed with her dog and said she was “thrilled” about the opening.
“No matter how big you become abroad, in the end you have to return home” - Reem Acra’s message to successful Lebanese scattered all over the world.
Wise words indeed! Ms Acra, we congratulate you on your accomplishments and couldn’t be happier that you now have a boutique on your home soil. Check out my snaps from the event below.
