Mary Katrantzou Wins Swiss Textile Award

This year’s Swiss Textiles Award has gone to Greek-born and London-based Mary Katrantzou thanks to her S/S 11 collection from LFW. With that comes a prize of 100,000 Euros. Instead of celebrating all out, she is using the money to fund her business for the future.

“I’m stunned. It was such a big build up and I cried backstage so I think that says it all. It’s a very prestigious award, it’s a benchmark and a great honour.” -Katrantzou tells Vogue UK

This indeed was a well deserved win for the 27 year old designer as she fended off competition from the likes of Jason Wu, Damir Doma and Juun J. Previous winners include Raf Simons and the amazing Alexander Wang who was on hand to present the award to this year’s recipient in Zurich where the ceremony was held.

Congratulations Mary and FFF cannot wait for your next collection which she says will be “a progression of this one and darker than this season”. We’re sure it will be just as fabulous, if not even more than the last! Here are some of our favourite pieces from the collection at LFW.
