British Fashion Awards 2010: And The Winners Are..

The 2010 British Fashion Awards took place last night at The Savoy Hotel and Theatre, London to honour 12 designers with a prestigious awards in recognition of their contribution to fashion. Highlights from the event include Phoebe Philo, Creative Director of Celine, being named Designer of the Year and said it was “a real honour” as she accepted the huge award. Naomi Campbell also took home the newly introduced Special Recognition Award for her 25 years in the industry.
“It’s overwhelming to be recognised in your own country, it’s a huge privilege and makes me feel very proud to be British. Women of colour are now far better represented, we still have a long way to go, but I’m very proud” – Naomi Campbell
Fashionista Alexa Chung bagged herself the British Style Award which was voted for entirely by the public and on receiving the award, the cover girl said “it’s a huge honour to represent British style, it’s overwhelming”.
Lee Alexander McQueen’s Outstanding Achievement Award was presented by Samantha Cameron and collected by the label’s new Creative Director, Sarah Burton and in her acceptance speech she said, “he was the bravest and most inspiring man I have ever met and we will always miss him”.
The guestlist was fabulous no doubt and included Victoria Beckham, Thandie Newton and Daisy Lowe to name a few. Here’s the full list of the winners at the BFA’s. Congratulations!
