Style For The Sake Of Style: Sylvana Ward Durret

To begin the countdown of Five Five Fabulous’ favourite event of the year, we will be posting daily style images of  Sylvana Ward Durret, Director of Special Events at Vogue US. She is the brains behind the event and the next 5 days will show off her outfits during the final week of planning the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala. Get ready for some fabulous, fabulous style.

Day 1:

On the ensemble: “Peter Pilotto has incredible prints. I picked up this top and skirt in London to wear to an event hosted by Samantha Cameron at Downing Street and another guest had the same one on, but in a different color. (We shared an approving glance.) It’s great because you can wear the skirt and top separately, or, when worn together, you can dress it up or down. Cinching my Gryphon trench (the only trench I own) with a Proenza Schouler belt, it works well for day. And the slits make it super-easy to run around the Met (my second home as of late—the Gala is only one week away!).”

On the bag and accessories: “I am obsessed with this Givenchy turquoise tote—as every Vogue girl knows, one MUST have color in their wardrobe. It’s the perfect size and allows me to lug all of my Met binders and files back and forth from the office. The cuff is Made Her Think—an oldie but goodie—and this girl can’t get enough skull jewelry.  And my tank watch and engagement ring are extensions of my body, really. I feel naked without them!”

On the shoes: “These Gianvito Rossi for Altuzarra spectator booties have a bit of a Mary Poppins vibe. They’re elegant and timeless, but the extra cuff at the top gives them some edge.”
