Valentino Haute Couture Fall 2011

“It’s the grace of a woman we’ve been looking for, that’s not a word that’s used very much today, but we think it’s more subversive now to dress like this, with a sense of regality and luxury that has nothing to do with ostentation.” – These are the words of Pier Paolo Piccioli as he describes the expression himself and Maria Grazia Chiuri have been aiming to convey with their collections since 2008.

You can feel the inspiration of Russian aristrocracy in this collection. Such strong craftsmanship and expression via embellishment. It’s taken me a while to accept that Valentino no longer designs for his named brand, however this collection deserves a lot of praise and I for one can’t wait to see who wins the stylist cat fights over who gets to wear these pieces on the red carpet.
