Victoria Beckham is a brand that never ceases to amaze me. It’s so easy for celebrity-gone-designer to wear off quickly as just a novelty or gimmick, however the way Victoria Beckham has evolved into a major fashion brand from denim, to ready to wear deserves a round of applause.
This season is my first time attending a press day of Victoria Beckham’s and as you will soon tell from the visual heavy feature, there wasn’t one aspect of the showroom left un-photographed. I did the rounds starting with her SS12 Ready to Wear which featured lots of oranges, royal blues, metallics and nudes. The drop waist pleated dresses were amongst my favourites as well as the cocoon dresses in vibrant orange and yellow.
For her SS112 collection, we see a more playful side of the designer with loose fitting dresses feature prints in smocking, cats and clouds. Apart from the dresses, one of the best aspects of this collection had to be the shoes. From a mile away you could spot the shoe collection in collaboration with Charlotte Olympia. They compliment the dresses as well as her denim perfectly and I can already tell they’ll be hugely coveted for SS12.
For accessories we see simplicity in design and statement in colour. The Orange ‘Victoria’ and the pouches available in different colour ways are amongst my favourites.
Victoria Beckham denim is still going strong with her signature style. Skinny jeans that will be available in a range of pastel shades as well as some light jersey tops can be worn casually and transitioned from day to night easily with the right shoe. Moving on to eyewear, I had a good look through each design which range from different shapes and materials all boasting an acetate frame. I noticed the signature ‘V’ placed at the tip of each piece and loved the fine details.
