I Also Eat: ASK, Lancaster Gate, London

I Also Eat: ASK, Lancaster Gate, London

Last night I went out for dinner at one of ASK Italian’s newly decorated restaurants in Paddington. I’d never eaten at ASK before and was pleasantly surprised with their finely detailed decor which included great lighting, unique artwork in the form of a map of Italy created with wine bottles and some seriously fabulous wine glasses. ASK also boasts an open kitchen which I just love.

I had dinner with my sister and my boyfriend who are both as serious about food as I am. Here’s how it went down. For starters we shared Butterfly King Prawns (£6.95). This dish had a great flavour to it. The prawns were big and perfect for sharing. Calamari (£5.05) Served with a delicious garlic mayo dip, the Calamari was incredibly more-ish. Mushrooms Al Forno (£5.35). The mushrooms were seasoned beautifully and like the prawns were a great size that filled the gap until the mains arrived.

For mains we ordered Risotto El Funghi (£11.45). The risotto dish has gone down as one of my favourites to date! It was so creamy and full of flavour and I will definitely be ordering it again on my next visit. Caprina Pizza (£10.65). The pizza was served on a wooden slab with a pizza cutter and oil dispenser. It tasted fresh, flavoursome and was topped generously. There’s no beating a stone baked pizza. This one was delicious and is fully recommended. Ravioli Marittimo (£10.15). This dish had a really balanced taste, the ravioli was moist and tender and was served piping hot which was fantastic. I loved the flavour of the crab. We also ordered a plate of Rustic Chips (£3.05) to share, they were irresistible after the first bite.

For our third and final course, we all indulged in a dessert and a free hot drink as a special promotion from ASK. We ordered Honeycomb Cheesecake (£5.15). This was delicious, it had a thick cookie base and really well set creamy middle with the most delicious honeycomb pieces on top. Perfect! Chocolate Nemesis (£5.40). This was scrumptious, it had a gooey middle with a generous serving of vanilla ice cream to balance out the rich chocolate taste. My favourite of the desserts had to be the Apple Rustica (£5.15). A perfect personal sized pie, the pastry was light and fluffy it was crisped perfectly and the middle was fresh and flavoursome.

The service at ASK was attentive and welcoming, we were never left unnoticed and waiting for the food didn’t seem like a lifetime. The one thing we had wished for however was for the waitress to have cleared our table between the main and desert course as it got a bit messy, (maybe we’re just sloppy eaters)! However the evening was perfect and we loved the decor and  small details that created the atmosphere. The wine glasses really caught our attention and the plate for the bill was very clever!

Is it me or is everyone slightly obsessing with Isabel Marant lately? I'm definitely guilty of it ever since...
