Nicholas Oakwell Couture SS12

Last night I attended the stunning showcase of Nicholas Oakwell’s Couture SS12 line at London’s Claridge’s hotel. For the designer’s second line, he found inspiration in the archives of the iconic jewellery house, Grima. The collection radiates 60′s and 70′s timeless glamour with luxury materials such as ostrich feathers and vivid gold alligator skins displayed alongside prints, beads and pailettes creating stunning structures that remarkably move effortlessly.

Having never seen any Nicholas Oakwell pieces up close before, I was completely blown away by the craftsmanship and commitment to detail. Oakwell’s enthusiasm for metals was shared in a stunning collaboration with Nicholas Kirkwood for shoes.
