The whole editorial was shot by world renowned photographer Terry Richardson. Paltrow is wearing an Anthony Vaccarello dress which Karlie Kloss strutted down the runway in last September during fashion week. I think they are the only two women who could possibly pull off such a creation. Everyone is undoubtedly going to be talking about the lack of her face in this shot, but who cares when you have those pins to make up for it?

This will of course be launched with a bang. A polka dot explosion if you will, with window installations of the LV boutiques scheduled as well as a retrospective of Kusama’s work to be exhibited at London’s Tate on February 9th, following her current retrospective at Paris’ Centre Pompidou.

Vandevorst and Gareth Pugh.

To get us excited for the unveiling, here’s a sneak peek behind the in-store hoardings at the making of the Selfridges Womens Designer Galleries.

Last summer you may recall a little issue surrounding the ‘Battle of the Red Sole’, where Louboutin
was denied a trademark on those much coveted red lacquered soles that grace the feet of many a shoe lover. YSL, who featured shoes with red soles as part of their Resort collection last year, have now hired 11 law professors who specialise in trademark law in their defence against Mr. Louboutin in a saga that doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. A brief was filed on Tuesday against Louboutin and its quest to protect the use of the red colour citing there should be freedom of innovation and competition.

“A woman who buys red shoes is doing so for a reason – red shoes have a particular meaning to her, and to others, that cannot be supplied or even approximated by shoes of a different colour. Given the substantial creativity involved in both fashion design and fashion consumption, courts should not lightly allow one particular competitor to monopolise particular fashion submarket.” – Legal experts in YSL’s defence.

Louboutin didn’t win round one in August. Let’s see how this one pans out..

A four-day auction of the belongings of the late Elizabeth Taylor has raised over $150 million in New York with some items going for 50 times more than the pre-sale estimate. There was everything selling from haute couture and jewellery to memorabilia and furniture. Some of the proceeds will go to the Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation which she established in 1991.

The response to the sale was “nothing short of overwhelming with multiple bidders competing for every lot“ - Christie’s Chairman, Marc Porter.

Taylor’s copy of the ‘National Velvet’ script, a 1944 film that made her a star, brought in just over an outstanding $170,000 and the pre-sale estimate was between $2000 to $3000. Although the auction ended on Friday, sales will continue online and undoubtedly raise thousands more.
