McQ Alexander McQueen Exclusive to Net-a-Porter

Yesterday saw the launch of an exciting week long partnership between Alexander McQueen and Net-a-Porter. To celebrate Sarah Burton’s inaugural McQ runway collection, a private order service has been set up exclusively to Net-a-Porter (for the period of the pre-launch), where shoppers have the opportunity to ‘own a piece of fashion history’ by purchasing and reserving pieces from the Fall 2012 collection. The looks will be made to order and delivered by the Fall season.

“I’m excited to be working with NET-A-PORTER on this special project, offering its huge global customer base the chance to pre-order these special McQ runway pieces before anyone else. This is a first for both of us.”- Jonathan Akeroyd, CEO of Alexander McQueen.

Ballgowns: British Glamour Since 1950 Exhibition Preview

The V&A has one of the most influential and unique fashion galleries in the UK. Since the 1950′s it has housed some of the most infamous dresses and gowns but has just undergone a gorgeous renovation with a new innovative space exhibiting ballgowns, red carpet evening gowns and catwalk finale dresses for an exhibition launching on May 19th, Ballgowns: British Glamour Since 1950.

This week I previewd the exhibition in the newly re-designed space and curators, Oriole Cullen and Sonnet Stanfill have done an impeccable job at helping viewers see these gowns in all their glory. Some of the dresses are even placed on rotating mannequins, making it easy to view from all angles.

The ballgowns exhibition features pieces from Mary Katrantzou, Gareth Pugh, Giles Deacon, Antonio Berardi and Burberry to name a few and I’ve included images of some of my favourites below. However to really appreciate this, you must visit the exhibition which takes place from May 19th- January 6th 2013. Adult tickets are £10 and students are £7.

He never fails to surpass our expectations but genius Mr. Lagerfeld produces yet another breath-taking Pre-Fall 2012 campaign, this time styled by none other than the former Vogue Paris editor, Carine Roitfeld. Russian model Daria Strokous fronts the shoot set in an old Hollywood-esque bar setting modelling an array of pieces from the collection that are nothing short of luxurious. Karl’s touches are evident throughout as the Indian inspirations transcend through Strokous’ poses, demonstrating every inch of the fine Chanel detailing and intricacy. And the fabulous handbags casually placed in the background? Perfect touch.

Gisele Bündchen shows us exactly why she does what she does on the cover of Vogue Paris for the June/July 2012 issue. The Brazilian poses for the beach-themed shoot, photographed by Inez and Vinoodh in nothing but itty bitty bikini bottoms showing off a sandy derriere and beautiful scenery. This is undoubtedly another sexy cover under the model’s belt and she doesn’t even look like she’s wearing a touch of make-up. The style of the shoot takes us back to the 90′s and we love that!

Temperley London Opens Flagship on Bruton St

Today the Temperley London team announced the launch of their first flagship store on London’s Bruton St. A three storey Georgian townhouse will soon house all three Temperley lines, Temperley London, ALICE by Temperley and Temperley Bridal. It will also include the press showroom and wholesale showroom as well as the financial and e-commerce offices making this location the head office of Temperley.

Their Notting Hill boutique which has been open since 2002 will be re-designed for ‘Occasion Dressing’ focusing on evening wear, ready to wear and bridal.

A Fabulous Dinner at Aqua with Juicy Couture

To help celebrate my recent 25th birthday, Juicy Couture were sweet enough to organise a delicious dinner at Aqua Kyoto for me and some close friends. On Friday evening, we enjoyed cocktails on the terrace of what is now my new favourite restaurant in London and enjoyed an amazing view of the sunset, after which we enjoyed a delicious four course meal.

The food at Aqua was so delicious it’s hard not to crave it as I sit here and write about it. The set menu included everything from edamame beans to miso black cod and an assortment of the chef’s special sushi. The meal was finished off with a platter of traditional Japanese ice cream which I can now officially say I’ve tried!

Aqua has a really relaxing interior and with the right crowd. It’s the perfect destination for an evening filled with gorgeous views, delicious cocktails and even better food. Not to mention the service is impeccable. Our glasses were never empty and all the wait staff were really friendly and welcoming. Mix that up with a great outfit some good music and amazing friends and you have one 25th birthday you’re not going to forget any time soon!
