Alexandra McQueen is a label known for its extravagance and this we definitely saw on the runway of SS12 thanks to Sarah Burton who is doing a fabulous job for the British label. Here is McQueen’s SS12 ad campaign which features Zuzanna Bijoch posing in a rather angelic manner for photographer David Sims. I think he captured the mood of the collection so perfectly in this campaign with a powerful sense of serenity and calmness.

Ten Fabulous SS12 Shoes

This was possibly one of the hardest posts I have had to draft. It took me ages to pick just ten of my favourite pairs of shoes for Spring Summer 2012, but my final draft includes:

Giuseppe Zanotti, Burberry Prorsum, Alexander McQueen, Camilla Skovgard, Rupert Sanderson, Nicholas Kirkwood, Versace, Charlotte Olympia, Tabitha Simmons and Christian Louboutin.

Now all that’s left to do is wait for them to hit the stores!

There’s a reason new versions of this now iconic box clutch are released every year by the late, great Alexander McQueen. I’m trying to find the words to describe it. From the patent or calf hair finish to the signature skull clasp, I couldn’t think of a better clutch bag to grace my hand. This piece will always remain true to McQueen’s dramatic and edgy style.

Head Over Heels: Killer McQueen’s

He’s gone but his legacy lives on. These heels by Alexander McQueen still exude a sense of drama the designer was known for. I’m particularly obsessing over the studded brass-toe leather boots with the killer 14cm heel. Its rock and punk mixed with sheer sophistication, an awesome combination in my eyes!

I came across these AH-MAZING Daffodil 160 calf hair platform pumps and I’m not even joking, my heart skipped a beat. If you know me well then you know I have an obsession with leopard print, whether its in a big or small dose I can never seem to get enough of it. These Louboutins are heading to the top of my wishlist! I need them in my life asap, especially to rock all through SS11 (and forever).

Alexander McQueen ‘Savage Beauty’

The New York Metropolitan Museum is paying tribute to the late great Alexander McQueen in an exhibition titled ‘Savage Beauty’. This is to be launched May 4th to coincide with the first anniversary of the designer’s passing. The exhibition will feature his most iconic designs and creations ranging from his earlier work right up to his final collection. What an amazing tribute to the fashion legend so New Yorkers, this is a must see!

Alexander McQueen To Be Honoured

The late great Alexander McQueen is to be honoured by receiving a posthumous award at the British Fashion Awards 2010. It goes without saying that the Outstanding Achievement Award in Fashion Design is indeed well and truly deserved and is going to a designer that is sadly gone but most definitely not forgotten. The award celebrates designers whose work have had an enormous impact on global fashion. Past winners include Vivienne Westwood and John Galliano.

“There was only one person we felt we could recognise with this award this year – Lee McQueen,”- Harold Tillman, CBE, the chairman of the BFC.

Alexander McQueen: The Last Collection

The last collection by Lee McQueen was viewed yesterday in Paris, it showed 16 pieces which were all ‘cut on the stand’ by Lee McQueen just week’s before taking his own life.

The private viewing showed his inspiration derived from Religion, Life, Death, Grinling Goblins and Byzantine art. It demonstrated McQueens immense skill and talent.

This viewing of his last collection was inevitable to gave us all a reminder of what the fashion world has lost.

Alexander McQueen Dies

The fashion world is in mourning today as the tragic death of Lee McQueen, the founder and designer behind the Alexander McQueen brand, was announced. McQueen was found dead at his home in London at the age of 40. The news comes just days before London Fashion Week and a month before unveiling his new collection. Tributes have flooded in since the news broke, at the loss of such a talent and genius in this industry. He will be missed.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time. 5’5 do not wish to contribute to the press surrounding the cause of death and respect his family’s privacy.
